The study of genes and heredity has come a long way since first discovered in 1865 by Gregor Mendel and furthered by C. H. Waddington in 1940 when he coined the term epigenetics. He saw changes that affect gene activity may result from external and environmental factors. Epi is rooted in the Greek word which means; upon, near to or in addition. This field picked up speed in 1970 all the way up to today with the study of why certain genes turn on and turn off. Current research has proven that behavior and lifestyle are the determining factors of whether or not a gene will be expressed.
The ancient practice of Ayurveda as a lifestyle medicine has promoted this for thousands of years. It is true that as humans we must live in accordance with nature. Ayurveda is a life science with particular practices and routines for each unique body type. There are approximately 7.9 billion unique ways for an individual to be put together in body and mind. Wow!!! I’ve been a Wellness Coach in Ayurveda and Yoga for over 20 years and have taught hundreds of people as well as traversing my own healing milestones. I see some people take quantum leaps toward a more peaceful way of life while others do not. These same struggles are inside me. “On the path, off the path, on the path, off the path”. Underneath this are the habits and limiting beliefs we hold. It isn’t always easy making the suggestions I make. People live in a whole world of considerations for why they Can’t make Changes: shame, pride & fear of being found out, are a few. The basic premise of Epigenetics is simple; change the way you think, eat whole food, drink clean water, handle emotions with less reaction, be flexible, change behavior, get more aligned with natural rhythms. Create an environment in the body so health can exist. This should be easy right? Ha! not at all. Look around you when I say ”natural”. There is nothing natural about the world we live in. I recently had an awakening moment. I saw piles and piles of “not natural”....houses, synthetics, plastics, chemicals, industrialized food. I felt generations of behaviors, attitudes, eating habits, addictions, deprivations. Invisible patterns and limiting beliefs, all working against us/me. The experience continues to be profound. This led me to a new phase in my work as a Healing Artist and Wellness Coach. I found the key to influencing the Epigene, changing behavior and releasing the True Self back into flow with nature. Accredited in Neuro Linguistic Programing (NLP) as a Certified Coach with the Global Academy of Excellence, these profound techniques are now at my fingertips. Time Line Therapy, Parts Integration and so much more. A real habit buster tool. Created in 1970 by Richard Brander and John Grinder they found the connection between neurological processes (neuro-), language (linguistic) and behavioral patterns learned through experience (programming), can be changed to achieve specific goals in life. In just one session I was able to see how I picked up a limiting belief in childhood that became a core belief. I was set free in just 10 minutes. I would like to share this with you as it is a true miracle tool! I am offering a free discovery session to determine your unique body constitution, what is and isn’t working for you and what you would like to create for your future. Don’t wait to make the changes. Time moves too quickly. There is no better time to transform than Springtime.
