It’s not something I think about often. My last kiss. With my kids, my mom, my husband, my friends. I felt it strongly the other day. I was triggered by the billboard on the side of the freeway. Two people facing each other with masks on. The words read Stay Away From Each Other. As I passed the sign I contemplated whether there was a number six in it or not. Such as six feet apart? I quickly shrugged the question off and felt sad anyway.
Today I learned about love.

Is it Time for a Sensory Cleanse?
What is coming from outside of you to the inside of you through your five senses influences every aspect of your life. If you're feeling stuck, tired, anxious or angry; having feelings of sadness, worry, digestive disturbance or pain in the body, how you’re being influenced by your senses may be the reason. Keep in mind our senses enable us to interact with life. Our senses are like antennas picking up cues from the outside world, governing our emotional responses. Have you ever done a sensory cleanse? If you want to reboot your hormones, emotional health, recharge your nervous system and increase creativity try these simple strategies. Sense of Taste Eat bland food for a week and remove salt, oil and sugar to reduce cravings, allowing for the taste buds to reboot. Give your gut a break. Notice what you have a taste for; such as fine things, or if you have a sour or metallic taste in your mouth. Tasteful talk means kind and skillful communication. Sense of Touch Wear cotton or silk clothes so that your skin can breathe. You will feel lighter, your skin will feel softer and you will gain energy. Take your shoes off and feel the nature under your feet. Walk on dirt or sand. Go barefoot on the grass, step into a stream or find a nice smooth rock to cool your feet. You can even lie on your back and raise your legs up a wall to let the soles of your feet face up to the heavens. Sense of Sight Limit the amount of screen time. Leave your phone at home, give your computer a bedtime. Stay off of television. Meditate with your eyes closed and focused up or meditate on a candle flame. You can also use an eye mask to reduce light when sleeping. Enhance your living space with soft pastel colors. Sense of Sound Try humming to reduce stress and stimulate the vagus nerve; play delightful or classical music with no words in your house even when you are not home. Take a day off from complaining. Speak only warm and tender words. Or try taking a day of silence. If outside sounds are disturbing your environment when you sleep, try a white noise machine or listen to 432 or 528 hertz sound frequency. Sense of Smell Aromatherapy is a wonderful mood enhancer. Whether it is from your garden like jasmine or roses or essential oils diffused throughout your home can have a powerful effect on the environment such as cleansing and enhancing the air. Take time to breathe in good clean air from those two holes in the center of your face. Mountain air, rivers and the ocean have wonderful cleansing and healing abilities. |
